Things to remember about Southwest District in 2013

 

There are three things you should remember about Southwest District as we move into 2013.

  1. APR Scholarship - Yes, the District awards 10 $100 scholarship each year. Read more about it.

  2. District Speakers Bureau - The District has a speakers bureau for the chapters to use. The District awards any chapter a $100 stipend that books a speaker from the Speakers Bureau. Learn about it.

  3. Southwest District Conference - Register now (www.prsaswconf.org) for the District conference in Austin, TX during June 5-7, 2013.Are you interested in presenting at the conference. Proposal submissions from those of you who are interested in speaking must include the following:
    • Title
    • Topic
    • Description of presentation
    • What attendees will gain from the presentation
    • How your topic ties in to keeping PR weird!

2013 Slate of District Officers Elected PDF Print E-mail

New! 2013 Southwest District Board Elected

The PRSA Southwest District nominating committee proposed the following slate of officers to serve with President Kristen Turley, APR, from the Tulsa Chapter and Immediate Past President, Sam Sims, APR:

  • Chair elect: Laura Van Hoosier, APR (Greater Fort Worth chapter)
  • Secretary: Kristi Williams, APR (Baton Rouge chapter)
  • Treasurer: Danielle Walker, APR (Oklahoma City Chapter )

In addition to the above officers, the Southwest District board of directors includes the presidents of every chapter within the six-state district. 

The Southwest District board voted on this slate offices at its meeting held October 13 in San Francisco, CA. The slate was approved and voted into service by those in attendance.

The District chair appoints volunteers to lead various committees.  Committees currently include Accreditation, Programming, and Diversity. If you are interested in serving, please contact Kristen Turley, District President.

What is the Southwest District?

Public Relations Society of America's Southwest District represents 14 chapters in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico and Texas. The District serves as a link between local PRSA chapters and national leadership.
