Testimonial:
The journey is the reward is often a difficult phrase to truly grasp, especially for Type A personalities. However, my journey towards accreditation was a reward every step of the way, something I am so glad that I did for myself, for my career, and with my friend, Jessica Newell. She and I decided that our key to success would be supporting each other, and it worked out well for both of us.

I would highly encourage my colleagues to pursue their own accreditation. I would let them know that the buddy system is not just for elementary school. Having someone to study with, to use as a sounding board and be one for them, to bounce ideas off of, to be accountable with no matter what area of PR we practice, we inevitably work closely with others why not for accreditation, too?

I graduated from Austin College with an honors degree in English. While I knew a lot about 19th century melodrama and the social climate in the time of Jane Austen, most of what I knew about public relations initially came from on-the-job training, internships, and instinct. How wonderful it was to make a study of my profession, to learn its history, and to know the particulars about why that feeling in my gut was, most times, right. Now, as the owner of my own company, I understand even more the value those three little letters have, and how what I did to earn each one of them will continue to benefit me for years to come.
